The next step on the way to Deoriatal Chandrashila Trek is 3 kilometers from Sari to Deoriatal. Deoriatal is situated at an altitude of 7,800 feet and it takes around 3 hours to reach here from Sankri. The trail passes through dense rhododendron forests, maple trees, few streams and finally, opens out to beautiful meadows. Although the journey starts from Haridwar, the actual trek commences from Sankri village. After having an early start to the day with a healthy and delicious breakfast, you will commence your trek towards Deoriatal.

After having breakfast, the amazing trek will begin and will be around 3 km long. You can have a small sightseeing tour around the campsite if you wish. Once you start your trek, you can see the reflection of amazing surroundings in the crystal clear lake. Therefore it is often called ‘two worlds at one place’. The trail is filled with small shrines that show up in the greenery of the yellow and red flags tied on it. Thereafter, we have to pass a clearing in the forest that is aligned with the scarlets blossoming out in the open. After this, we will be directly ascending the path that leads to Rohini Bugyal and Chopta. The ascent makes way for a level of land and some hard uphill hike. From here, you can get an elegant view of the Chandrashila peak on the other end of the forest cavity. Once you cross the level land, you will again be introduced to the forest-lined up with old oak and maple trees along with the rhododendrons. As you move along, you will find a stream where you can replenish your water needs. A little trek upwards where the meadows seem to start will open up to a bunch of huts. Here, you can find the local shepherds with their sheep. A little ahead, we will reach our campsite at the Chopta village. Once we reach the campsite we will stay overnight at Chopta. The trail from Chopta to the Tungnath Temple runs on a well-defined concrete bounded path. The trail will be a little tougher today with challenging steep climbs. During winter, you will find a thick layer of snow covering the whole trail. There are no water points throughout the trail. So, make sure you carry a sufficient amount of water with yourself. After crossing the steep slope, you will reach the summit of the Chandrashila peak.
