A perfect time to explore the Patalsu Trek is from April to May and then from September to October. During this period, the weather remains pleasant. Summers are perfect, with a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10 degrees. It is advisable to avoid at the time of August and the initial days of September because of the heavy breakdown of monsoon during this time. For beginners, the best time to complete the trek is before the winter sets in i.e at the time of mid-September to the ending of October, considered to be the decent time to explore the place.
Day 1: Reporting and Acclimatization
All the participants of this trek are to reach at Jagatsukh early in the morning. Breakfast will be scheduled here. Post breakfast all the participants will undergo the registration process. Lunch at 1 PM. Once the activity gets over, we will go for an acclimatization walk. Evening snacks at 5 PM. Post snacks orientation for the trek will be covered.
Day 2: Drive to Solang Valley
This will be the second trek on this trek. After an early breakfast, we will make our way to Solang Valley. The drive is around 30 kilometers and it can take around 2-3 hours depending on the traffic. During the peak season like April and May, it can even take up to 4-5 hours. The whole journey promises to make an individual forget their normal life in cities and get tuned to the beauty of this place.
Once we reach Solang Valley, we will settle a bit, and then after lunch, we will have an acclimatization walk to Anjani Mahadev which will take around 2 hours. Once we shall return back to Solang Valley, you can roam around and embrace the beauty of this amazing place. During the evening, a few activities will be arranged in order to increase the interaction between the trekkers. Trekking is a team activity and in order to reach the summit, it is very important to climb together. You will certainly light up in the hues of the place, welcoming strangers to become a part of your life.
Day 3: Trek from Solang to Shagadugh
So, on day 3 of this beautiful short trek, we will start our journey on foot. We will move from Solang to Shagadugh. Shagadugh is located at an elevation of around 9,700 feet and the total trekking distance from Solang to Shagadugh is around 3-4 kilometers. Make sure you carry enough water to meet your water demands on this day of the trek.
Though the trail to Shagadugh is short, it makes for a steep uphill climb at a few intervals. Very quickly we will stroll up a lofty incline of the solidified day off. The whole trail will be a walk in heaven along with the perks of extreme serenity. We will follow the trail which passes through assorted pine and oak trees. The dense forest then leads to an open large meadow which is known as Shagadugh. Dinner will be served at night along with few activities to boost up the further interaction. Overnight stay will be set up in tents.
Day 4: Trek to Patalsu Peak
This will be the most thrilling day on this trek. Right after completing an early breakfast at Shagadugh base camp, we will start our climb to the Patalsu peak. The trek has a steep ascent for the peak. The panoramic views of the Shitidhar, Friendship and Manali peaks from the peak are quite mesmerizing. You can even witness the Beas Kund from the top. The views from the top of Patalsu Peak is quite mesmerizing. We will stay here for some time. You can click beautiful pictures and store them with you forever. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best places to widen your camera gallery with the most beautiful pictures of the mountains. After a while, we will make our way back to Shagadugh.
Day 5: Descend to Solang Valley
This will be the last day of your trek where we will make our way back to Solang Valley. We will follow the route that we took while ascending. Descending 3 kilometers down, we will reach Solang. Roam around and feel the essence of this beautiful valley. From here, we will make our way back to Manali. You are certain to reach Manali by 5 pm in the evening. You can either stay back in Manali and enjoy the local sightseeing or return back to your own city.
This marks the end of your beautiful trek. Here the trip ends physically but not in your memories. You will surely cherish this awesome trip for a lifetime. You will feel changes in your perspective and you will feel more energized and adventurous. The mountains are huge and hence it will occupy a huge space in your heart forcing you to return back real soon.
The Pickup point and Drop Point will be Jagatsukh, Manali. We can arrange a cab for you from the bus station in Manali, the charges for the same are not included in the package. The cost of the cab can be shared among the trekkers joining the trek. For communications purposes, we will create a Whatsapp Group before the departure date of the trek and will share the details regarding the transportation. The drop at Bus Stand after the trek will be arranged in a similar way.
By Air
To reach Patalsu Peak, the nearest airport is in Bhuntar which is 11km from Kullu and 52 km from Manali. You can take a taxi from Bhuntar to Manali which will cost approximately Rs, 1000/-. The airlines that you can take are Indian Airlines, Kingfisher Airlines, Jagson Airlines operating flights from Delhi as well as Chandigarh. To reach Manali by air, you need to have a connecting flight via Delhi or Chandigarh. Delhi or Chandigarh is well connected to major airports across the country. By Road
To reach Patalsu trek by road, you can take an overnight bus from Delhi to Manali or Chandigarh to Manali. Manali is well connected to cities by road. The roads are in good condition but there are sudden landslides in the monsoon season. The bus from Delhi to Manali can take up to 14 hours and from Chandigarh to Manali is 9 hours at least. Tickets are available online on Redbus.in, Goibibo.in or Hrtc.gov.in. You can pay online for the bus tickets. You should always take the Himsuta bus from HRTC as they are the most comfortable government buses on this route. You can also book private buses but sometimes sudden hiccups come with them. The last government bus leaves at 11:15 pm at night and starts from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Plan your onward journeys only post noon giving enough buffer for bus delays.
By Train
We do not recommend you travel by train as the closest railway station, Jogindernagar is 5 hours away which you will again have to cover by bus or cab.
