Highlights

  • Famous for its high rainfall, subtropical forests, and biodiversity, it is abutted by Assam in the north and east and by Bangladesh in the south.
  • Meghalaya is also the home to a large variety of fruits, vegetables, spices, and medicinal plants. Meghalaya is also famous for its large variety of orchids- nearly 325 of them.

Overview

And a smile that lingered in infinity, waiting; will meet your lips the second you breathe in the fresh air of this whimsical green land. Spend some time here and just one lightning later, you will cough poetry and cry music. Called the Scotland of East and rightly so, Meghalaya is a symphony like no other. It intrigues you with its sacred groves and the breeze plays with your hair in a way that gives you a high that lingers on longer than you expect. From dwindling on the live root bridges to living the simple life of the village folk of the cleanest village in India- Mawlynnlong; dive into the crescendo of the waves that knock you off your feet at every turn. The chirpy voices of the birds, the tall azure waterfalls, the grey skies and the fragrance of wet earth will leave you feeling embarrassed to be human. One never leaves this state as the same person, for the serenity here imprints itself onto every soul that decides to traverse this land.

Brief Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary

If you are looking for an itinerary, don’t call yourself a backpacker.

A backpacker doesn’t have a fix itinerary, he creates it on the go listening to his gut instinct and with Insane Traveller, instinct is what fuels our heart, mind and body.

An itinerary only restricts a traveller from exploring new, less commercial and off-beat places that are not marked on any map.

To add even more spice to the adventure, we recommend you to *NOT* look at pictures or read about what to see on the internet. Don’t prepare your eyes and soul for the breath-taking beauty as it will just tone-down the curiosity. Expect the unexpected and let your mind blow at every turn.

You don’t have to have a check-list. Exploring is not about covering all the places but feeling the adrenaline in real time, feeling your heart beat faster as you venture out to LIVE and not just EXIST.

Leave the tourist in you behind, carry the traveller in you forward.

If you are still looking for an itinerary, you can close this window and search for a travel agent. He will provide you what you are looking for.
