Which state made GPS devices mandatory for trekkers?

Published On 17 May 2020 by Harshit Patel

A review meeting held by the Himachal Government and chaired by Mr. Shrikant Baldi (Additional Chief Secretary) on exigency matters on tourism and a decision was made that carrying GPS devices is a must while traveling and trekking the places of Himachal Pradesh.
This decision is made on the preparedness of monsoon and due to adverse effects of weather change especially during rainy days that have created a huge concern for the government, especially towards hikers and travelers. So as to avoid adverse weather and to be warned off beforehand, trekkers and other travelers are made to wear GPS Trackers to be instilled with early warning and other red signals of danger.
