Where can I learn about trekking?

Published On 01 Mar 2020 by Oshank Soni

Like human bodies, our bodies are made to adapt to the situations that we can put in front of it, and trekking can be as easy as a natural process like breathing. But as we develop more in this concrete jungle, we have to learn trekking in order to enjoy it properly. So, the best way to learn trekking is to do trekking, the more you experience it with other experienced trekkers, the more you will learn about it.

The other, more straightforward way is to learn through the internet and then practicing it in real life treks, which will provide a good experience and can be an ice breaker for many. You can also take trekking classes at trekking institutes, which would provide you with the necessary information, techniques, and awareness about trekking.
This would not only make you a better trekker but also make your experience memorable and adventurous. Many of these institutes provide you with different courses, including Adventure courses, Search and Rescue courses, and Method of Instruction courses and not just the information alone. Some of the most famous institutes are given below, along with their locations.

1. Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Darjeeling West Bengal)
2. Nehru Institute of Mountaineering Adventure Course (Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand)
3. The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (Jim & Ws) (Pahalgam, Jammu, And Kashmir)
4. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, (Manali, Himachal Pradesh)
5. National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (Dirang Arunachal Pradesh)
