I have zero trek experience. Can I go on Chadar trek?

Published On 01 Mar 2020 by Oshank Soni

Chadar trek is a high altitude Himalayan trek that requires more than 10 days of trekking. It is considered to be extremely difficult because you have to trek on the frozen Zanskar river in winter when the temperature varies between -20°C and -25°C. The difficulty level of this trek is very high and hence it requires a lot of endurance and stamina. There are high risks of altitude sickness in this trek. You are required to have some previous trekking experience and hence beginners are not welcomed to a large extent. It depends on how you define beginner, you can try this but the trekking experience is mandatory. If you have performed 2-4 treks before no matter what height you?ve been to. If you are not a novice and planning to do this trek, then you have to scale some other treks of around 15,000 feet. It?s quite difficult to survive in such extreme climate conditions without any kind of previous experience in the field of Himalayan trekking.
