How comfortable is the journey from Dehradun to Sankri by bus for Kedarkantha trek? Should I take a bus or cab?

Published On 01 Mar 2020 by Oshank Soni

Sankri village is the base camp for the Kedarkantha Trek. The distance between Dehradun and Sankri is approximately 198 kilometers. The route is Dehradun- Vikasnagar- Selaqui- Sankri. It takes around 10hours to reach Sankri from Dehradun. You can get buses, shared taxi and rental cabs for this journey. Buses are available at 5 am and 7 am respectively from prince chowk opposite GP grand hotel. You can also take an indirect bus- Dehradun to Purola and from Purola to Sankri. Both the way of transportation have different experiences, if you will travel by cab you will reach faster(in 8 hours) but traveling by the Pahadi buses is altogether a different experience. You can meet several local people, listen to their stories and understand their culture more closetibia30. I am planning a Solo trek in Rishikesh. I will do it over a weekend. Any pointers or suggestions?

Rishikesh is one of the most beautiful cities of India located in the Uttarakhand state. This city is also known as the yoga capital of its country. Apart from this, Rishikesh serves as a hub from adventure sports in the country right from river rafting to bungee jumping. If you are planning a weekend trek, then you should opt for the Nag tibba trek. It is a very beautiful trek and it requires only two days to successfully accomplish the trek. The difficulty level is easy and the trekking distance is around 15 kilometers. During the winter months, when the snow starts to pl, ay it?s part, it becomes a little difficult. Otherwise, you can easily go for a solo trek during the rest of the season.
